Pushing ahead for a ‘home’ run

'Home'

I’m continuously working to bring deeper meaning to my workand I believe I made a productive step with the help of a fellow photographer who took a turn in front of the lens for me.

I recently enjoyed a long day of shooting with Cassel Hiles, who took a break from the shutter to collaborate with me as a model. We shot in and around a home in the Dallas area, and it was full of all kinds of neat things for a rather unassuming home. Among our locations were a bathtub, an empty room, a swimming pool and a tennis court.

I’m editing in sections, and today, I’ll share some of the “home” segment of our shoot.

This was shot with existing light, and I spent a good amount of time trying to play with light patterns and shadows, as you’ll see in this next image.

A bathroom was next to the empty room, and some beautiful light was coming out from the doorway and into the hall. This is a closer shot of the pattern from the top photo in this post.

Here I’m trying to establish a mood and emotion without the use of facial expressions. There is a saying in, and I think someone famous said it, that goes something like this: If you want something to look more interesting, light less of it.

If anyone happens to remember this quote correctly, and wants to share who said it, please do so! I couldn’t even get the answer with The Mighty Google.

Ok, so this doesn’t fit perfectly into the “home” images, but it’ll give you a clue as to what I have left to post!

Thank you! It’s hard to pick a favorite, but that might be mine.
