Twitter, happier (MSPtweetup!)

April 8th, 2009

Half-second exposure, with my camera resting atop my camera bag.

A Tweetup is where people who use Twitter meet up somewhere. That sounded redundant, but I attended my first one Tuesday night, and had a great time. Meeting people and networking was the order of the night, and Spill The Wine in Minneapolis served as the setting.

I didn’t know anyone attending the event, save for a couple of names from Twitter, so every conversation was something new and cool. I exchanged business cards, and learned some great things, which I will have to put into practice. After a couple of hours, I was getting pretty tired and needed to head home, so I took a few quick snap shots before catching the Light Rail. Here they are, with a little commentary:

A golden rule: Do not just take one group shot, no matter how good it looks on the screen. It will not come out.

And a good time was had by all! Thanks to Kurt Schmidt for the heads up on this one! If you want to see the pictures on Flickr, just click on them. I hope everyone else enjoyed this Tweetup as much as I did. I’ll definitely be attending more. And to photographers: Networking is vital!

(Yes, that’s a Radiohead pun in the headline.)

    Great lighting in these Jamie,
Did you bounce with a white card?

Thanks! And bingo! That and bouncing from ceilings/walls are my preferred on-camera flash techniques.

P.S. The half-second shot is unflashed, probably obvious. Ha.
